Quickstart

Edit audio metadata in Metadatics in five simple steps.

Metadatics is a tool that allows you to edit the metadata information of various audio file types on macOS. You can use it in many different ways, but the example below walks through one common scenario to get you started.

How to Edit the Track Artist for a Group of Files

  1. In the Finder, select the files whose metadata you would like to edit and drag them into the main Metadatics window.
  2. Once the files are added, select all of them and change the Track Artist field on the left.
  3. Press the Return key, or Tab to another field.
  4. You will see that the Save Indicator has turned from green to red. This tells you that there are unsaved changes.
  5. Press the Save button in the toolbar to write the changes to disk.
Tip: Metadatics can edit many files at once. Instead of selecting a single file, select dozens or thousands — any value you type applies to every selected file in a single batch.
